How much safer would my home be under martial law?

When martial law is implemented is it just in the main streets or neighborhood streets? Would I need a gun if martial law is implemented; crime rate should decrease, right? I'm worried about increased crime rate during hyperinflation and would like to know if we would be under martial law during hyperinflation.
