Was this a bitchy thing for my friend to say?

If a FRIEND said that to me I would take it as her being bitchy. Maybe she is jealous of your personal decision. I think you should have a talk with her. Ask her why she acted like that and simply say you would like her to respect your choices and not be rude. It's better to voice how you feel that bottle it up and then get even more mad.
